New Dashboard page

We've added a Dashboard to give you an overview of today. The Dashboard includes a few stats such as group and player numbers (along with a graph of the last 30 days so you can see trends). It also shows your groups for the day on a calendar-style view (if you assign times to your games) and a timeline of recent activity. Then at the bottom we show some recent reviews, because it's always nice to be reminded of the nice things people are saying.

This replaces our old Timeline page which for most of our customers has outlived its usefulness. However if you still find the old-style Timeline page useful simply click the blue link at the top to go to it. If you'd prefer to always see the old Timeline instead of the new Dashboard you can click "New Features" in the bottom left corner of the screen and toggle it off.

If you do find you still want to use the old Timeline I'd appreciate if you could email me (tom@buzzshot.co). I'm trying to provide much better alternatives for the things that page used to be used for, and while you're very welcome to use the older one if you prefer I'd love to have the chance to understand how I can make the new pages even better for you!

Try now: Shiny new Group and Player pages

We've been working on some updates to the data table pages of the Buzzshot admin. The Group and Player pages have received a good overhaul making them more functional and nicer to use.

Currently these changes are opt in, so if you want to try them please click the "New Features" banner in the bottom left of the page and toggle on the "New look tables" feature. If you like the changes then you can keep them and if you don't then you can just toggle them back off (but we'd appreciated if you could email support@buzzshot.co and tell us what you didn't like!).

New user permissions

We've added some more granular user permissions so you can restrict your staff members access to certain areas of the Buzzshot Admin. New today are permission settings for:

  • Viewing the Stats page
  • Reading Player Reviews
  • Exporting data (whether staff members can download data the data)

In particular the Stats and Player Reviews permissions might be useful if you find that having access to these pages promotes an unhealthy competition between your staff members.

To change permissions for a user please visit the "Users" page in the Settings.

Post-Game Surveys

Your Buzzshot subscription just got more useful! Find out what your players are thinking and stay at the absolute top of your game!

Post-game surveys are the best way to get honest and nuanced feedback from your players and they're something every escape room should consider doing. Previously though it involved setting up other software and either manual work or complex automation, but now with Buzzshot's Post-Game Survey feature you can do it quickly, easily and most of all effectively. Post-game surveys help you find out what your doing well and what could be improved, they get feedback you just won't hear other ways. And on top of that they're also great for reminding players of how much they liked your escape room and even getting extra reviews (once someone has filled out the survey we remind them to review, and it's a perfect time because they're just thinking again of how fun it was).

You can set up a custom survey to ask exaclty what you want or you can use our default one (with or without your own customisations). You can have the survey sent out at a time of your choosing after the game. The surveys don't replace the existing post-game messaging but instead compliment it, so you can send the team their photo right away and then a day later send them the feedback form.

Read more about it here or, if you prefer, watch a 5 minute video here.

End of game form customisation

We've added a new settings page to let you change some settings on the "complete game" screen used to fill in details of a game after it is played. This allows to change which fields are present for the game master to fill in.

We do also have the ability to add custom fields to this screen. It's not in the settings page right now (coming soon though!) but do email us if there's anything you'd like to collect and we'll set it up for you.

We've also added a SMS Sender field to the SMS settings page to change the name players see when they receive their SMS. Unfortunately this is for non-US/Canadian customers only (the US and Canadian SMS systems work a little differently)

Get a daily/weekly/monthly digest email with your reviews from TripAdvisor, Google, Yelp and Facebook

Buzzshot has long collected the public reviews left for your Escape Room and displayed them within the Buzzshot interface. This makes it easy to see the reviews you're getting all in one place. But we now support the ability to send you a digest email every day (or every week or every month if you prefer) showing all your new reviews. We think this is the easiest way to keep a handle on all the new reviews you get and make sure you'll be able to congraulation yourself and your staff for goo reviews and to swiftly respond to any reviews that need you to.

To switch ont he daily digests please go to https://buzzshot.co/admin/settings/reviewsfeedback/ and select the frequency wth which you'd like to receive your emails.

Customize Buzzshot app colors

We've made some small updates to the settings pages today. Along with various small tweaks to make them easier to use we've added settings to change the colors used in the Buzzshot app. You can tweak your color settings here. This customisation has been available on request for a while, but now you can do it yourself. Just remember to always log out and log back in to the app after updating these settings.

Touchless registration improvements

Now usable without booking integration

The best way to use touchless registration is still in conjunction with booking integration, that way teams get automatically created ahead when they book. However, if you don't use booking software that integrates with Buzzshot, or if you'd just prefer not to use the integration, then we now have a solution. You can add "time slots" at https://buzzshot.co/admin/settings/timeslots/ and we will show games for those times whether or not they currently exist as groups in the Buzzshot system.

"Register Another Player"

As a small usability enhancement we have added a "Register Another Player" button after a player registers themselves. This is helpful if multiple players are sharing a mobile device and means they don't have to scan the QR code again.

Pending Groups Page

This feature has existed for a while so it may not be new to you. I've now switched on the "Pending Groups Page" for everyone, this page (in the admin) allows you to view all your pending groups and shows who has registered and who has signed.
