Improved exports

The exports page has had a long-overdue update.

  1. It's now easier to get exports for specific date ranges
  2. You can select the "Date field" which means you can now choose to get Groups created this month or Groups scheduled for this month. This has been requested a lot!
  3. You can filter the data before downloading it. Want only winning teams from a specific room? You can do that now.

Broadcasts, now a bit slower! (for a good reason)

In our to improve deliverability we are now going a little bit slower when sending broadcast emails to lots of recipients. If you're sending to less than 20,000 people at a time this won't effect you. If you're sending more than that then for domains new to Buzzshot (or which haven't sent a lot over the past 6 months) will send at a rate of 20,000/hour for the first day as a warm up period. After the warm up period we'll send in batches of 50,000 at a time with a gap of 30 minutes between each send.

This gives the email servers (such as Gmail and Outlook) time to recognise your incoming emails as not spam and should reduce the rate of emails ending up in spam folders. Please allow extra time for delivery when sending large broadcasts in the future.

If you think this might cause an issue for you then please do get in touch and we'll see what we can do to mitigate that. Please also get in touch if you have any questions.

Upload lots of photos at once

You can now upload multiple photos at once when uploading photos from the admin dashboard (eg from your computer). Previously you had to upload them one at a time and I realise that was quite a slow process for those adding lots of photos to each group.

PS: I'm aware there have not been a lot of new feature announcements this year. That's not because there hasn't been work going on, far from it! Look out for some bigger announcements in the next few months. - Tom

Tagging players is now much easier

You can now add/remove tags from a player wherever they are displayed. For example from the page for a group or from the pending groups page. This should make it much easier to tag payers which useful information for later. You could use it to track types of players ("Newby", "Enthusiast") or to flag a problem players for next time (eg "Breaks Things").

You can use tags to keep track or players between visits or you can use them to decide which players will receive your broadcast emails. You can even set some tags to display in the dashboard/calendar view.

For more details please see the article on our support site.

App Updates for iOS and Android

Over the past week we've released an update to the Buzzshot app for both iOS and Android. You can upgrade by going to the App Store (iOS) or the Play Store (Android) or if you have auto-updates turned on you may already have it. This is a fairly minor update to keep compatability with future devices and our upcoming features. It does also add the long requested Pinch to Zoom feature to the camera!

Tags and Segments

Ever found yourself wanting to segment your players and access different groups? Maybe you're using the Broadcast feature and want to send it out to to everyone who has played in the last month or maybe you just want to view a list of all players who have played all of your rooms. Tags and Segments could be for you!

Tags allow you to add short text "tags" to each of your players. Maybe you want to mark corporate bookings or enthusiasts? Right now you can add tags by searching for a player and then selecting "edit" in their action menu, or you can apply tags when you import a list into Buzzshot. Would you like to be able to apply tags elsewhere? Maybe in the app when completing a group? Let us know!

Segments allow you to define a subset of players that meet certain criteria.

Once defined you can easily filter your players by the segment:

Or use it when sending broadcast emails:

This is just the start, as you can imagine tags and segments are an important base feature needed for other future features. So keep an eye out for what's coming soon! And let us know what you'd like to see or if you have any ingenious uses of these new features.

Add to calendar buttons for invite emails

You can now add buttons to your invite emails to allow players to quickly and easily add the game to their calendars.

To add these to your emails first edit the emails (you will have to switch to the new "advanced editor" if you're not already using it) then drag in "Calendar" from the palette on the left. This gives you some default buttons (pictured above) but you are then free to edit their look if you like.

Broadcast email marketing

Buzzshot's Broadcast Email feature allows you to send out broadcast emails to your players. Use it to send out a monthly newsletter or to let players know about new room openings or your latest special offer.

Already using Mailchimp or something similar? My hope is that for most of our customers, Buzzshot Broadcasts Emails will be cheaper, more convenient and easier to use.

How much does it cost? It's included in your regular Buzzshot price if you send less than 20,000 emails a year, so for example if you have a list of 2,000 people you could send out a newsletter to them 10 times a year. If you want to send more frequently or to more people prices start at  US$25/month (which would allow you to send 20,000 emails a month).

This is now available on your account, look for the "Broadcast" item on the menu!

SMS Landing Page Editor

It is now possible to edit the SMS landing page (the page players get to after following the link in the SMS they are sent) in much more detail. You may recognise the editor from our new email content editor, it all works the same!

Let us know what you think, or if we can help in any way to get you the landing page you want!
